The Journey of Remembering

October 11, 2025 Sharon Fitzmaurice

There was a time in my life when I thought I had lost everything - not in the physical sense, but in the way that leaves you hollow on the inside. What I call my darkest night of the soul. It was a place of despair, self-doubt, and disconnection. And yet, it was in that same darkness that a light began to flicker - a knowing that I was more than the pain I carried, more than my body, more than the roles I played in life.

That moment was my awakening. Not an instant transformation, but the beginning of a slow, tender journey of remembering. Remembering that I am soul in physical form. Remembering that there is a deeper wisdom always available to me when I dare to turn inward.

It’s why soul-led work isn’t just something I do now - it’s who I am. Every client I sit with, every group session, retreat or workshop I hold, every podcast conversation I share comes from this place of knowing. It is the compass that guides me back when I forget, when I stumble, when life feels heavy again.

This week on the podcast, I had the joy of sitting down with Suzanne Roberts, someone whose journey resonated so deeply with my own. Suzanne, Founder of Unifying Solutions and author of It’s Deeper Than That: A Pathway to a Vibrant, Purposeful Life, also walked through the fires of pain and self-hatred. Her childhood trauma led her into darkness, but her love of physics opened a doorway to something greater -the reality of polarity, of energy, of soul.

Listening to Suzanne describe her “inner laboratory” - the way she turned inward to explore and discover the truth of who she really is - felt like hearing my own story reflected back to me. That same turning inward is what saved me too.

In our conversation, we explored the science of magnetism and the current of life force that runs through us all, how meditation and mindfulness open the gateway to soul presence, and how healing is never about becoming someone new but about remembering the wholeness that was always there.

What touched me most was her reminder that being of service is at the heart of a purposeful life. That, I believe, is why so many of us who have walked through darkness feel called to guide others toward their own light.

As I sit with this episode, I feel an immense gratitude for my own journey - even the painful parts. Without that dark night, I might never have woken up to the truth of who I really am. Without it, I would not be living this soul-led path today.

My hope is that in listening to Suzanne’s story and hearing a little of my own, you will be reminded of your soul too. That quiet voice within that whispers: you are so much more than the physical, you are light, you are energy, you are soul.

No one else can steer your ship

July 17, 2025 Sharon Fitzmaurice

Life is an open sea - vast, unpredictable, and filled with both breath-taking beauty and stormy chaos. Each of us is given a ship at birth, and whether we realise it or not, we are the captains. No one else can truly steer our ship. Others may try to influence us, advise us, or even attempt to grab the wheel - but the truth is, only you can decide the course you take.

Our compass? It’s not made of metal - it’s our heart. That quiet inner knowing, the subtle nudges, the dreams that refuse to die even after we’ve pushed them aside… they are pointing us towards true north. That’s the direction of purpose, peace, passion, and soul-alignment.

Just like any ship braving the open waters, we sometimes lose direction. Storms roll in - the griefs, the fears, the unexpected life turns - and we get knocked off course. It’s easy to feel lost in those moments, drifting without knowing where land is. But here’s the gift: every storm teaches us something. About ourselves. About our strength. About how much we’re capable of enduring and overcoming.

And we begin to realise - we are more resilient than we ever imagined. We are more powerful than we give ourselves credit for. And we are the only ones who can truly navigate our way back to clarity, back to the essence of who we are and what we came here to do.

So I ask you now…

What is your compass?
What pulls at your heartstrings? What fills you with fire, even if you’ve long buried it beneath “real life” responsibilities? What lights you up from the inside?

What direction are you heading in life right now?
Are you moving with intention, or simply floating with the tides?

If you're unsure of your direction, take a deep breath and look inward. Think back to a dream you once had - the one that made your heart beat a little faster, the one that felt so you. You may have pushed it aside, convinced yourself it was unrealistic or selfish. But what if it wasn’t? What if it was your soul speaking truth?

Close your eyes. Picture yourself living that dream.
What does it look like?
What does it feel like?
Let your heart guide you through the vision. Let your inner compass begin to stir again.

Because no matter how far off course you think you've gone, you're never truly lost. Your compass is still within you. And the wheel is still in your hands.

You are the captain. You always have been.

So steady your ship. Trust the wisdom of your heart. And set sail in the direction that calls you home.

Enjoy a 15-Minute Guided Meditation for new beginnings. Every breath is a chance to start again in each moment. We learn to focus on our breath as it enters and leaves the body allowing all things to flow naturally and easily. We find peace within the breath and within our mind, body and spirit.

With love and purpose,
Sharon 💖

Remembering What Is Important

July 8, 2025 Sharon Fitzmaurice

Reflections from the rugged coastline of Achill Island

Dear friends,

I’ve just returned from a soul-nourishing two-week holiday on the breath-taking shores of Achill Island, where the wild Atlantic winds reminded me to breathe more deeply, and the untamed coastline seemed to whisper truths I had almost forgotten.

Like many of you, I live a life of service - guiding others, creating space for healing, holding space for transformation and development. It’s a path I walk with deep love and purpose. But sometimes, in the busyness of giving, we forget to give to ourselves.

As I walked each day along the cliffs, watching the waves crash below and the sky stretch endlessly above, I began to reflect on how available we often make ourselves to others -through work, messages, care-giving, and constant productivity. And yet, how seldom we offer that same availability to our own soul.

A Quiet Realisation

In that stillness, I found myself asking:

“Why do I do what I do?”

The answer came softly but clearly:

To help others remember their own strength… but only if I first remember my own.

This moment of reconnection reminded me of a truth I often teach, but needed to re-learn for myself:
We cannot pour from an empty cup. We cannot lead from depletion. We cannot help others heal without honouring our own healing.

Your Gentle Invitation

So, this July, I invite you - lovingly and without pressure - to remember what is important. Not the deadlines. Not the unread messages. But the deep exhale. The silence between actions. The space where you can simply be.

Take a walk. Let the wind kiss your face. Turn your phone off for an hour. Ask yourself:

“Am I available to my own soul today?”

It doesn’t have to be a big retreat. Even a few quiet moments can bring you back to your centre.

This Is Why I Do What I Do

Returning from this holiday, I feel more grounded in my purpose:
To walk alongside others in their healing journeys - not as someone who has all the answers, but as someone who remembers what it means to come home to herself.

Let’s continue to remind each other.
To pause.
To reflect.
To nourish what truly matters.

Love letters from your Soul

June 29, 2017 Sharon Fitzmaurice

Do you remember as a child laying down upon the grass and looking up at the sky? In your mind  you just allowed images to float into your mind as you smiled at the many creations you could make out of a white fluffy shape far off in the distance. The many dreams you woke from seeing yourself taking part in the greatest of adventures and travelling foreign lands meeting people from different cultures as you were the greatest explorer?

You may think these were the whimsical ramblings of your childhood, but from these early years, you were forming a belief in your mind that everything was possible and that some day you would grow up and achieve all those  magnificent dreams. So what changed?

Some may say 'life' happened and that your circumstances along the way altered your dreams and stopped you in your tracks, then there are others that say "I am living my dreams", what makes us so different?

Most of us take on life with many dreams and ambitions but may have got caught up with other responsibilities along the way and now feel that we are no longer the great adventurer, but a great provider or protector.

But do you know who you are right now, have you taken the time to ask yourself one simple question, who am I, what do I want?

I know on the days that I get a little overwhelmed by 'all I have to do' that I get lost in that monkey chatter in my head and lose sight of what is really important. When we allow ourselves to lose sight of our true passion we start to resent the things we 'have' to do as we are not putting any real focus on what we 'want' to do.

So my little exercise for mind, body and soul every day is to simply sit for a few minutes and take out a pen and paper and write one question that I need to ask myself for the answer, believe me no one else can give you the answer you really seek, only you!

You may not get the answer you wanted, but then again we more than likely never do, but our soul knows exactly what is right for us and will guide that idea or inspiration into our hearts and minds, if we allow it.

Throughout the day, be mindful of the question you asked earlier on and had written down and simply go about your day, you will start to become aware of the thoughts and feelings that come into your conscious mind as you have opened up a doorway to receive guidance, write down any thoughts or ideas and let them flow. You will be absolutely amazed and all the things you have written by the end of the day.

Then when you have loads of ideas, look at each one and decide to put one or all of them into action, it just takes a decision in your  mind, the intention to create or make it happen and you are already half way there.

The problem is most of you will have loads of ideas and just allow them to flow out into the Ether, wondering why nothing is changing in your life. I know, I have been there!

Everyday set aside five minutes, take out a pen and paper. Write a question you would like an answer to and start to write every idea or thought that you feel relates to it. You can still create the life you want each and every day, it doesn't have to happen immediately, but by taking your power back and allowing yourself to dream mindfully can be a wonderful experience in you opening your world up to new and exciting opportunities.

Let me know how you get on, I would love to hear all your amazing ideas

Love Sharon

Friends

February 15, 2016 Sharon Fitzmaurice

This week I was reminded of the importance of friendship and friends in my life. I asked myself the question, “what is a friend”? How do we distinguish between ‘best’ or ‘good’ friends and acquaintances?
